IGC
B.A. IN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES AND GLOBAL COMMUNICATION (International Program)
Understand the world. Communicate with Impact.
What’s International Studies and Global Communication (IGC)?
IGC equips you with the competencies to address international challenges, promote cultural diversity, and communicate across cultures in online and offline contexts. The major combines two complementary pillars of study to actualize practical relevance: issues impacting today’s globally interconnected society–and professional communication. Specifically, you will better understand world cultures and arts, foreign relations and government, and contemporary concerns and trends; at the same time, you will build intercultural and digital communication skills. The major thus provides a strong preparation for navigating situations where cross-cultural cooperation, strategic problem solving, and digital interaction are essential for success.

What is the relationship between IGC and British and American Studies?
IGC is a new major that enlarges the interdisciplinarity of the British and American Studies (BAS) major by broadening the study of arts, cultures, history, politics and international relations, and technology on an international scale.
The BAS major will continue for students who began their first-year of study on August 3, 2026; they will be the final cohort. No new students will be admitted to BAS. Prospective students can now apply to IGC instead.
What travel opportunities exist for IGC students?
Because IGC emphasizes experiential learning, some IGC courses include international trips subsidized by the university so that you can gain international perspectives and experience.
The flexibility and breadth of the IGC major also allows for study abroad and international exchange. As an IGC student, you can study at one of our partner universities in Europe, America, and Asia–and pay the same tuition rate you would at Thammasat!
What makes the campus so special?
Our location puts you minutes away from major landmarks and world-class shopping.
IGC is housed at Tha Prachan Campus on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, where the modern Thai capital developed. So you’re minutes away from the Grand Palace, Wat Po, Wat Arun, the Golden Mount, the National Museum, and Khao San Road. Also nearby are a popular local market and riverside malls: Wang Lang, Tha Maharaj, and Icon Siam.
Getting around Bangkok and to the campus is, therefore, convenient. You can take the boat, the subway, or a free university shuttle!
